Q. What size range appendages will the MAT fit?
A. A wide range -- from 4" diameter forearm to a 36" circumference thigh.
Q. Can the MAT be applied with one-hand?
A. Yes. The C-clip base and simple belt latch and turn-key operation provides fast, one-handed application. It is the only tourniquet available that provides proven and efficacious one-handed operation.
Q. How fast can the MAT be applied and tightened to stop blood flow?
A. Testing has consistently produced complete application and occlusion in under 10 seconds.
Q. Is complete blood flow occlusion provided by the MAT?
A. Yes. A series of test concluded by both Army and Navy medical teams have provided 100% success (with Doppler, BP and OX sensors) with proper application of the MAT.
Q. Can the tightening be modulated?
A. Yes. The turnkey mechanism provides for easy and safe controlled tightening of the tourniquet.
Q. Is the MAT usable by EMS, Military and everyday users?
A. Yes. The MAT has been designed for easy use by everyone, in all applications including everyday first-aid kits, emergency services, backpacking, military medicine and hospital use.
Q. Can the MAT tightening be released and reapplied?
A. Yes. Two easy and fast means of releasing the MAT are provided:
1. Simply pushing the "Release" tab on the side of the MAT automatically releases the winding (usually accompanied by immediate unwinding of the mechanism)
2. The buckle attachment can be simply lifted up (and off) of the attachment base.
Q. Can the MAT be used for multiple applications?
A. Yes. The MAT can be reset by pushing the "Release" and pulling the tightening strap all the way out (to the indicator area marked on the strap). For contamination reasons, multiple reapplication and reuse among different patients is not advised.
Q. Can the MAT be easily packed and carried?
A. Yes. The MAT weighs less than 4oz. It has been designed and developed in two sizes: The 2" wide Army ISR testing spec size and the compact 1" wide Field Combat version (recommended for most uses).
Q. Is the MAT rugged and durable?
A. Yes. The MAT has been designed and developed with the highest grade materials, components and manufacturing quality, to military-spec regulations, including integrated mechanism fail-safe redundancies (not found in any other tourniquet). The MAT has passed rigorous, independent laboratory extreme conditions and performance tests. It has been designed and packaged for a 5-10 year shelf-life.
